You could be lagging behind on your side as opposed to the server side.
I've noticed some instances against foes that cast Wastrel Worry that the skill damages me well before the 3 seconds. As soon as Wastrel is applied, it is already towards the end of its flashing cycle and ready to hurt. What can be happening is you see PS flashing on your side, but on the server side, its already over.

Another thing is if you are running a LCD monitor, what is your screen delay?
I made the mistake of buying a nice cheap LCD monitor, but it had a weird 20ms delay. I exchanged it for a 12ms which is a little better.

That could very well be, however that should only drop maintained enchantments and not ones like Prot Spirit and Healing Breeze. Also I've noticed that nightmares seem to die automatically after stripping me in UW. This only happens if there is other monsters around. I don't know why, or if its a glitch. However I get stripped of my enchantments and take off running. I usually manage to live, but when I go back there is an item on the ground where the nightmare was. I also know that I didn't kill it nor did the SS/SV'er.

I made a few runs at Elona/minotaurs/griffons last night on my necro after reading this, all went as expected, no loss of enchants. Perhaps it was a mid patch as there were like 3 last night. Might've been one of the followup patches that fixed this.

Ah i thought this was just me getting lag.

Had it very rareley in a number of places where all Enchantements just drop inc maintained and then instadeath arrives.

Its almost more like u dont see the im running out blinking light - i put it down to lag tho on 1Meg ADSL.

One thing a freind of mine runs cable and has massive lag issues sometimes due to the way cable codes it packet traffic - may be a factor.

Side note: No way Anet would cause enchantments to just disappear because they are silently watching 55ers. I mean, if they make the build possible, then why try and disable it? I'm pretty sure they thought of it before they released the skills, and they should be happy that players are getting smart/skillfull enough to go out and fight things alone.

Not in my case, no, as I've had the problem happen when I have full energy and health.

I don't know my screen delay, but seeing as how my hotkey<->cast speed is instantanious... I'd say it's a slim delay, if any.

As to the lag, yes, it's another possibility, but unfortunately unless I have a 15+ second lag, it's not the problem. As I have previously stated, I cast Protective Spirit even when not needed.

"Hmm, energy full, not other spell needs casting... *dink*" and Protective Spirit gets a renewal, even if it's got close to full duration left before it fades.

I know for sure the problem was not caused by the updates, as I had it happen (as did others) before the updates took place... However, it is possible ArenaNet took notice of this thread and fixed the problem in one of the bugfix updates they gave us.

Only time shall tell...

The spell they use to strip our enchantments, Rend Enchantments, causes them to take damage for every Monk enchantment they remove from the target. That's the entire purpose of the buggers; they aren't there to do any real damage, they are there to Rend us while in-battle, giving the other mobs a chance to smack us down.

I've had this problem once trying out my 55. I first thought it was my Prot Spirit running out but enhancments, hexes, curses etc. usually start blinking before they run out completely and all my enhancments just ran out without blinking -_-

suppose there couldve been some server side hiccup due to big stuff going on behind the scenes that made it happen before the display could update (aka server side lag).
My 55 trainer and uw duo companion brings spellbreaker to uw last one up before aggro. He still gets really nervous though when he sees nightmares... heh.
